Accordion Day in San Francisco
Please join us Friday, June 11 for Accordion Day as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the accordion being named San Francisco's official musical instrument as well as National Accordion Awareness Month.
We are inviting all accordionists to come to the steps of city hall by 11:30 a.m. for a 30-minute mini concert of songs we all kind of know. we will be performing under the name The Blazing Bellows. At noon, I expect the mayor to give us a proclamation and we will launch into a rousing rendition of the song San Francisco (open your golden gate). The steps of city hall are located on Polk St. between Grove and McAllister.
